Today I would like to introduce you to another beautiful and stunning resort from the Maldives. It is Diamonds Thudufushi resort and it is all white! Well, almost all white 🙂 Maldivian water villas don’t get more elegant than this – chic and white above the cobalt blue sea. I stayed there for three nights and I really enjoyed every day!
AT A GLANCE
- Relaxed all-inclusive resort
- Chic and white spacious villas above the cobalt blue sea.
- Large private terrace offering direct access to the water.
A WARM WELCOME
To get to this resort I had to take a seaplane which takes about 35 minutes from Hulhumale. When my seaplane landed at a small wooden deck in the middle of the ocean, the resort boat with a smiling crew came and picked me up.
As soon as I arrived at the island, the manager and the assistant were waiting for me to welcome me at their heavenly white resort. They gave me some information about the hotel, showed me my villa and explained how everything works.
MY VILLA
I stayed in a villa on the sunset side since I’m not really a morning person and I wanted to be able to watch the sunset from my deck. I did so almost every night while relaxing in my private outdoor Jacuzzi drinking wine from the wine cabinet in my villa which was restocked daily and included in my all-inclusive package.
I had an amazing bed, wine cabinet filled with all kinds of wine and the most astonishing terrace I’ve ever been to: with huge couches, a dining table and chairs, two big chairs to lay down in the sun, a Jacuzzi and stairs directly to the water.
On top of that, my villa was absolutely HUGE and had a walk in closet, massive bed, a Mac computer fully stocked with movies and music, Italian Espresso machine, great Wi-Fi connection (better than I was expecting anyway!), and a deck that was double the size of my room in Malé.
FOOD & DRINKS
The restaurants and bars are incredible; and I don’t even need to mention that the food was fresh and spectacular and that I gained probably a kilo at the end of the trip.
Did I mention I had breakfast on my terrace looking at the sea every morning? Yes I did! This option was only available for the water villas, and you can choose in advance what and when you want to eat.
Diamonds Thudufushi has two restaurants, one is located on a spectacular water bridge among water villas with a beautiful ocean view serving a rich à la carte breakfast, lunch and dinner with a menu featuring a wide range of Italian, Asian and Eastern dishes and Maldivian specialities. Dinner at the restaurant is included for guests staying in the Water Villas. Guests staying in the Beach Bungalows may dine here at an additional cost.
Since I was staying in the Overwater Villa, I had access to the Overwater Restaurant which was more of a fine dining experience. You chose your courses from a set menu which largely remained the same with a new special each day. I had the same table every night, enjoying their delicious food while I was listening to a very talented musician who played on a piano, a saxophone or a guitar.
The main restaurant is located on the island and it works as a buffet. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is also a pizzeria for lunch and dinner. It is also possible to organise romantic dinners of lobster and prawns.
You can also find three different bars. Most of the time I spent my time in the beach bar where you can also have afternoon snacks. The over water bar and main bars open at night and they have a menu with numerous cocktails to choose from.
I drank more wine than I care to admit in those four days I was there but hey, we only live once! 😀
THINGS TO DO
I did end up relaxing on the couches on my deck a lot more than I was expecting, I but still took full advantage of the available activities. They had quite a bit included in my all-inclusive package like snorkelling equipment for using around the house reef, beach volleyball, table tennis, and daily yoga. If you want to go diving, they are organising diving trips or if you want to have some fun in the ocean you can choose from different water sport activities.
I mostly snorkelled around my villa and got to see lots of fish, small reef sharks and a turtle.
Everyone at Diamonds Thudufushi made my stay that much better and I couldn’t have asked for more from the resort. Even in my hungover induced laziness I could order a buggy, which took me everywhere I needed.
After this review, I guess you will also be enchanted by this hotel. You will find the prices and more images on their official website. And if you want more about the Maldives you can check my other posts from my resort visits in Maldives.
Don’t miss the next hotel review coming up. And if you represent a hotel and would like to work with me, do not hesitate to contact me, I will be happy to discuss some ideas with you.
